Great place to bring the family for a lake trip without fear of parties. Windy hill is always nice and quiet.
This is a hidden gem of Arizona. I still can't believe that this place has clean toilettes and showers... Clean and friendly place! This should be a tourist attraction!
The fishing was nice the campsites are clean the lake is beautiful.
The location is beautiful, but the last few times we tried camping here, we ran into loud, drunken parties and noise into the wee hours. Lake Roosevelt campgrounds are being ruined by a small percentage of obnoxious users, especially on weekends, and the Forest Service needs to recognize the problem. Plus in August 2017 the campsite rate went from $8 to $20. If you're paying that much, it seems you should enjoy some peace and quiet.
Windy Hill is a large recreation site consisting of several camp ground loops, boat ramps, and picnic areas. Some of the camp ground loops are closed and decommisions planned for a few of them. Check with the local office for details. The loops nearest the water are busy on the weekends. There are handicap accessible camp spots. There are shower houses as well as restrooms throughout. Wells are also on site. Many sites accomodate camper trailors and RVs. This is a good location.
