The ranger at the site was very friendly and informative. Great time.
The lower and the upper, both are good. The lower is probably more strenuous to get to. It's about a 2 block walk. The upper is a few miles, but you need to make reservations. Seriously I thought I could walk in last minute only to be declined.... and hey I'm from michigan flying out the next day. The park does this to preserve the site and path. Great place though.
A great little-known monument with very well preserved cliff dwellings. A paved walk is steep, but those without walking restrictions will be rewarded. The visitor center has an excellent movie and good displays.
Okay so I'm bias. I really like this place and can't say anything bad about it. It's hard to find, unless someone told you about it, or are a history buff, or you came accross it from the apachi trail or globe to see the Roosevelt dam. It's easy to drive by and not see it. Hiking is fun maybe strenuous, but the views and a cliff dwelling make it worth it. Probably be good to go to the Web page and check it out. The park associates are super knowledgeable on the park history and area. Heck I would venture to guess that there is a waiting list to volunteer. So there are two cliff dwellings to see
A hidden gem. Well worth the ride from Phoenix. Don't miss it
A great stop to hike and learn. Interesing and photogenic. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff at the visitors center. Visitors are restricted to the lower site. We were told the upper site is only accessible in the fall via a guided tour.
